Buckingham Palace Criticized for Missing Meghan Markle’s Potential

Buckingham Palace has come under scrutiny for not fully recognizing and supporting Meghan Markle’s remarkable potential during her early years as a member of the Royal Family. Royal commentator Jennie Bond expressed regret over the missed opportunities the monarchy faced following Meghan and Harry’s departure, often referred to as “Megxit.”

Speaking to GB News, Bond praised Meghan as a woman of strength and independence. “Meghan could have been such a tremendous asset to the Royal Family. She is an intelligent, outspoken woman with a successful career, a strong voice, and a deep commitment to various charities and causes,” she noted. “She embodied exactly what a modern monarchy needs.”

I find the news person offensive. Why wouldn’t Meghan use every advantage to be a commercial success? It’s absurd. It is also micro aggression. I love the commentator who calls her out that she is critical of Meghan no matter what she does.

Bond admitted that the Royal Family may not have handled Meghan’s integration into the royal fold as carefully as they should have. Despite her talents and potential to bring a fresh perspective, she was not afforded the same support as other members of the family.

While the press often labeled her as a “diva,” Meghan was simply asserting her boundaries and vision. She had high expectations for her role, but, unfortunately, she found the constraints of royal life limiting.

It’s important to note that Meghan wasn’t the first royal to face intense media scrutiny. Kate Middleton also endured a similar media frenzy in the early days of her relationship with Prince William. Public opinion toward Kate shifted positively. A YouGov poll from April of 2024 this year showed an overwhelming 76% of Brits expressing favorable views toward the future queen.

Meghan’s potential to resonate with a global audience and inspire positive change could have made her an invaluable figure in a modernized Royal Family. The monarchy missed a key opportunity to embrace her unique contributions.

CONCLUSION

Instead of characterizing Meghan Markle as a “diva” who disliked restrictions, the media can highlight her resilience in standing up for herself. Coming from a background far removed from royal privilege, Meghan was forced to navigate intense scrutiny and adapt to an institution with deep-rooted traditions. Her decision to step away wasn’t about resisting the role, but rather about protecting her mental health and asserting her independence. As someone without the financial and institutional power of the Royal Family, she had to make difficult choices to maintain her dignity.
